Rafael Nadal and Meliá celebrate the opening of ZEL Mallorca
ZEL Mallorca, a new lifestyle hotel by Meliá Hotels International in collaboration with Spanish tennis icon Rafael Nadal, was officially unveiled on June 23.
The hotel, which is situated along the shores of Palmanova, one of the most renowned beaches on the island of Mallorca, welcomed over three hundred guests, including Meliá's founder and president, Gabriel Escarrer.
The celebratory event, which featured performances by DJs Paco Colombás and Jordi Ruz, showcased the culinary delights of the hotel's main restaurant, which was developed in partnership with popular Spanish restaurant group Beso Beach, known for its Mediterranean and Basque Country cuisine.
Attendees were also treated to a sneak peek of the hotel's 165 rooms, including 21 suites, which offer breathtaking views of the sea and stylish decor that draws influence from Italy and Greece.
Setting itself apart from traditional hotels, ZEL Mallorca embraces innovation with a digital check-in and check-out process using self-service kiosks instead of the conventional reception desk.
The lobby, which includes a "coffee corner" from Barcelona brand Syra Coffee, is designed as an expansive patio, emphasizing the hotel’s overall ethos of seamless integration between indoor and outdoor environments. Other on-site features include two swimming pools and a spa.
ZEL Mallorca is conveniently set around 20 minutes by car from the international airport and the capital of Palma de Mallorca, as well as a five-minute drive from the Puerto Portals shopping and dining district.
Looking to the future, Meliá plans to expand its ZEL concept globally, with the first ZEL hotel in Mexico, ZEL Sayulita, slated to open its doors in 2025. More than 20 ZEL hotels are set to launch in the next five years, with properties planned for Mediterranean destinations and major cities such as Madrid, Paris, and London.
