Playa to manage Sanctuary Cap Cana

Playa Hotels & Resorts has announced that an agreement has been reached to assume overall management of the Dominican Republic’s Sanctuary Cap Cana resort. The company will relaunch the brand and manage all of the resort’s operations, sales and marketing, effective Oct. 1, 2017.

The property is the first new brand addition since Playa went public in March of this year, joining Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara and Panama Jack Resorts under the company’s management.

“We continue to execute our strategic plan and we see the Sanctuary brand as another opportunity to grow in the luxury all-inclusive sector,” said Bruce Wardinski, chairman and CEO, Playa Hotels & Resorts.

An adult-only, all-inclusive property, the Sanctuary is a 184-room resort on the Dominican Republic’s eastern tip featuring 33 luxury villas, 12 unique suite categories, two-level suites on a private island, five restaurants and six bars, in addition to a state-of-the-art fitness centre, Sanctuary Spa and five pools.

The news comes shortly after Playa closed on the acquisition of other land in Cap Cana in July, with construction beginning on a new 750-room Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara all-inclusive resort complex. The company’s first two Panama Jack Resorts in Cancun and Playa del Carmen are also to open in December 2017.
