Nobu shares plans for Beach Inn in Barbuda
Nobu Hospitality has released new details for Nobu Beach Inn, planned as part of The Beach Club, Barbuda, a low-density resort and residential community on Barbuda, one of the two major islands that make up Antigua and Barbuda.
The project follows the opening of Nobu Barbuda in 2020, a beach restaurant and lounge on Princess Diana Beach.
Nobu Hospitality says co-founder Robert De Niro is expanding his long-term vision for the destination through the new inn, created in partnership with James Packer and Daniel Shamoon.
Planned across 400 acres and two miles of beachfront on Barbuda’s southwest coast, Nobu Beach Inn will have 36 bedrooms across 17 individual villas, plus a beach club, oceanfront pool, indoor and outdoor spa, kids club, outdoor cinema, two tennis courts, two padel courts, and a gym pavilion.
The resort will also add dining beyond Nobu, including an oceanfront grill featuring local catch and an omakase sushi bar. Construction is expected to wrap in late 2026.
Nobu Hospitality says the single-storey bungalows will be integrated into landscaping and linked by sand pathways, using natural, sustainable materials designed to blend into the environment.
On the activity side, the resort’s water sports centre is expected to offer dinghy sailing, water skiing and kite surfing, with sailboats and motor yachts available for sunset cruises, beach picnics, fishing trips, scuba diving excursions, and trips to neighbouring islands.
The company also points to a rotating lineup of visiting wellness practitioners, DJs, fitness experts, and chefs for on-island programming.
De Niro said the site has been personal to him since he first visited the property more than 30 years ago on a boat trip from Antigua, and that the current ownership group moved ahead when the site became available ten years ago.
“Since I first stepped foot on Barbuda, I knew it was special. We wanted to create a place that's comfortable, where everyone wants to gather and embrace the essence of the island. The Nobu Beach Inn is designed to complement its surroundings while maintaining the landscape's natural beauty,” says De Niro.
Beyond hotel keys, the plan includes 25 beachfront residences, with owners able to access the inn’s amenities and services and optionally place homes in the resort’s rental program.
The residences are described as four- or five-bedroom beachfront bungalows connected by pools, gardens, and pathways, with customization options.
Nobu Beach Inn Residences start from $12 million USD.
For access, Burton Nibbs International Airport in Barbuda opened in October 2024, with direct private jet access and inter-island transfers.
V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua is served by non-stop flights to and from North America and Europe, with the destination positioned at roughly three hours from Miami, four hours from New York or Toronto, and seven and a half hours from London.
From Antigua, the resort is a 10-minute helicopter transfer away.
