Nobu Hospitality has announced plans to open its first hotel and restaurant in Puerto Rico in 2028, bringing the luxury brand to San Juan.

The Nobu Hotel and Restaurant San Juan will feature a signature Nobu restaurant and bar at street level, along with a rooftop lounge and bar. Its design will combine the brand’s contemporary aesthetic with elements reflecting San Juan’s character and heritage.

The announcement positions the property within the city’s historic setting, known for its architecture, galleries, dining and waterfront.

“Puerto Rico has long been one of the Caribbean’s most compelling destinations, celebrated for its rich history, vibrant culture, and exceptional hospitality,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality.

Horwell said the project will introduce Nobu’s approach to hospitality while connecting guests with the destination’s history and culture.

Joakim Lehmkuhl, managing partner of KTT, said the development reflects the company’s confidence in San Juan and will add to the city’s hospitality and dining offerings.

The hotel will offer service inspired by the Japanese hospitality philosophy of omotenashi, alongside experiences designed to connect guests with Puerto Rican culture.

For travel advisors, the announcement introduces a future luxury accommodation option in San Juan. The release did not specify the hotel’s room count, exact address, rates or booking timeline.
