Nobu Hospitality to open first development in Canada
Nobu Hospitality is planning to open Canada’s first Nobu-branded condo, restaurant and hotel development in Toronto, according to the Toronto Star.
The company, which was co-founded by actor Robert De Niro, chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and Hollywood producer Meir Teper, will build two 49-storey towers on Mercer St. in Toronto’s entertainment district, above the Pilkington Glass factory. The façade of the existing building will be incorporated into the new design.
A press release said that the hotel, meeting spaces, and 15,000 sq. ft. restaurant would be aimed at ‘vibrant international customers, celebrities, tastemakers and powerbrokers.’ The lifestyle residences will include 700 condominium suites and a podium featuring indoor and outdoor amenities, a ‘Zen Garden’ outdoor terrace and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
The two-level restaurant, meanwhile, is to feature a signature bar lounge, outdoor seating and private dining rooms.
The project will be built by Toronto developer Madison Group, with the pre-construction sale for the condo spaces to begin this summer.
