Meliá expands in Cuba with opening of Trinidad Peninsula
Meliá Hotels International has expanded in Cuba with the opening of the new Meliá Trinidad Peninsula, which is located just 15 minutes from Trinidad's old town, a World Heritage Site.
On a beachfront with views of the Sierra del Escambray, the 401-room property is surrounded by large outdoor spaces with swimming pools and gardens overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Some of the rooms boast sea views, with 80 of them being The Level, hence offering guests over 18 years of age a more personalized stay, with access to unique spaces and services, as well as a selection of swim-up rooms (with access to their own swimming pool).
The hotel has 14 restaurants and bars offer guests the best international cuisine and wellness areas such as the YHI Spa, offering an array of the finest treatments.
Meliá Trinidad Península is particularly committed to the MICE segment, with four venues that can accommodate over 1,400 attendees.
Furthermore, the hotel features a convenient independent reception area for events and, thanks to its stunning outdoor areas, the beach, pool and gardens can be alternative locations to organize events.
Year-end goals
Meliá Hotels International aims to have 34 operational hotels in Cuba by the end of 2023, from urban to beach destinations.
Among the latest news, the recent opening of two hotels in Havana: INNSiDE Habana Catedral and Sevilla Habana Affiliated by Meliá hotel.
This summer, the 50-room INNSiDE Habana Catedral hotel began offering a lifestyle hotel experience perfect for travellers looking to discover the Cuban capital from its very heart. The hotel, centrally located in Cathedral Square, aims to connect the community while creating unique experiences.
With its prime location in Old Havana, the 178-room Sevilla Habana Affiliated by Meliá Hotel has a rooftop with views of the Malecón.
On Dec. 15, Meliá will also open the doors of Sol Turquesa Beach, a resort located in a beautiful natural setting on Yuraguanal Beach in Holguín.
From 2024, the hotel company expects to add another three hotels to its portfolio in Cuba, including the arrival of luxury brand The Meliá Collection early next year with Havana's 188-room Hotel Plaza, a city icon.
