Marriott signs deal to bring back Ritz-Carlton to Cancun

Marriott International has signed an agreement to bring a Ritz-Carlton property back to Cancun, in the Punta Nizuc neighborhood of Mexico.

The deal will restore the Ritz-Carlton brand in the region after its exit in late 2022.

The project, expected to open in 2027, will feature a 131-key luxury hotel and 126 branded residences, according to a press release.

The hotel will be developed and owned via a joint venture between FibraHotel and Fibra Danhos. To be located in a LEED-certified building, the 126 branded residences will be developed by Beyond Ventures.

This project will include an oceanfront pool complex, a spa, six gourmet restaurants, and residential amenities, all serviced by The Ritz-Carlton. 

“As one of the most important tourist destinations in Mexico and Latin America, Cancun and the Riviera Maya attract nearly 30 million visitors each year, drawn by stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural experiences. While this property is conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport, it feels a world away,” stated Marriott International President of Caribbean & Latin America (CALA) Brian King.
