Marriott International is expanding its all-inclusive footprint with the signing of two new resort agreements with Catalonia Hotels & Resorts, adding projects in Jamaica and Tanzania as the company continues to grow the segment globally.

The agreements, signed July 22 in Barcelona, include a Marriott Hotels All-Inclusive Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

"These agreements represent a significant milestone in our all-inclusive strategy and demonstrate the strength of our relationships with experienced owners seeking to maximize value through Marriott's globally recognized brands," said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development oficer, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) for Marriott International, in a press release. "Catalonia already knows Marriott through its ownership of Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel, and we are delighted to expand our collaboration through two distinctive resorts in highly desirable leisure destinations.”

“We continue to see growing interest from owners and investors who recognize the power of Marriott's brands, distribution platform, and development expertise."

Montego Bay resort slated for 2028

The Jamaica project will introduce the Marriott Hotels brand to Montego Bay's all-inclusive market through the conversion of the former Catalonia Montego Bay.

The 522-room beachfront resort is expected to open in 2028.

Located near Sangster International Airport, the property is planned to feature 13 dining venues, three swimming pools, approximately 12,917 square feet of meeting space, a spa, fitness centre, tennis and pickleball courts, a lazy river and more than 2,130 feet of beachfront.

Autograph Collection heading to Zanzibar

Marriott's second agreement will bring the Autograph Collection Hotels brand into the all-inclusive segment in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Expected to open in 2027, the new-build, 271-room resort will focus on wellness and include multiple swimming pools, a spa, a theatre, an oceanfront jetty with a seawater pool and bar, and several specialty restaurants.

According to Marriott, the property will combine the individuality of the Autograph Collection brand with Zanzibar's culture, natural beauty and growing appeal as an international leisure destination.

Partnership builds on existing relationship

Catalonia Hotels & Resorts currently owns, leases and operates 82 hotels with more than 12,000 rooms.

Its portfolio includes urban hotels across Europe and leisure resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America, including Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The company also owns the Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel, a Marriott-branded property in Barcelona.

“This agreement reflects leading international brands’ recognition of our operational excellence and the strength of our management model. It also aligns with the company’s expansion strategy, including collaborations that support our growth in strategic markets,” said Manuel Valenzuela, chief commercial & operations officer, on behalf of Catalonia Hotels & Resorts.

Growing global pipeline

Marriott said the new signings further strengthen its position in the all-inclusive resort sector.

As of July 2026, the company operates 38 all-inclusive properties across nine markets in the Caribbean and Latin America under seven brands, with another 16 properties representing 5,600 rooms in development.

In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Marriott's all-inclusive pipeline includes four properties representing nearly 1,990 rooms.

The company said the latest agreements also expand owners' access to Marriott Bonvoy, its loyalty platform, which now has nearly 283 million members worldwide.
