Hilton surpasses 200 hotels in Canada, continues multi-brand expansion
Hampton Inn by Hilton Calgary Downtown Exterior (Hilton)

Hilton has reached a new milestone in Canada, with more than 200 hotels now open across the country.

The latest additions include Hôtel Vallea Bromont, Tapestry Collection by Hilton; Home2 Suites by Hilton Woodstock ON; and Spark by Hilton Toronto Mississauga.

“Surpassing 200 open hotels in Canada is a powerful testament to our momentum in the market,” said Matt Wehling, senior vice president, development, U.S. and Canada, Hilton.

“This success is fuelled by the strong relationships we’ve built with our owners, supported by our regional, in-market expertise that reinforces our long-term development strategy and drives operational excellence at every stage. With a strategic brand mix of existing hotels and a robust pipeline of more than 100 properties across multiple brands, we’re excited to continue expanding across Canada’s most sought-after and emerging destinations.”

Portfolio growth

Hilton has nearly doubled its Canadian portfolio over the past decade, driven primarily by focused service brands such as Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Tru by Hilton and Spark by Hilton, which launched in Canada in 2024.

These account for roughly half of Hilton’s growth in the country over the last ten years.

Extended-stay brands have also expanded significantly, with Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton doubling in size during the same period.

On the lifestyle side, Hilton has added several Tapestry Collection by Hilton properties this year, including Hôtel Vallea Bromont, Hotel Railwayparc Montreal and The Brock Niagara Falls Fallsview.

These join other recent entries such as Revery Toronto Downtown, a Curio Collection by Hilton property, and Canada’s first Canopy by Hilton in Toronto, which opened in 2023.

Development pipeline

Hilton has more than 100 properties under development in Canada.

Notable projects include the first Motto by Hilton, expected to open in Montreal in 2028, and the first Tempo by Hilton, planned for Toronto in 2029.

In the near term, more than 20 new hotels are scheduled to open across multiple brands in markets nationwide.

These include DoubleTree by Hilton North Vancouver, Hampton Inn by Hilton Calgary Downtown, Homewood Suites by Hilton Surrey, Home2 Suites by Hilton Vaughan Toronto, Tru by Hilton Milton and several new Spark by Hilton properties in Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal.
