Hard Rock to temporarily close Cancun & Vallarta resorts for major renovations

Hard Rock Hotels is temporarily closing two of its flagship all-inclusive resorts in Mexico as part of an extensive renovation project that will see both properties reopen in late December 2026.

Hard Rock Hotel Cancun and Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta, located in Nuevo Vallarta in Nayarit, will suspend operations this summer for approximately five months while undergoing comprehensive upgrades to guestrooms, public areas, meeting facilities and guest experiences.

Reservations for stays following the reopening are now open.

According to the company, the renovations are designed to modernize both beachfront resorts while enhancing the signature music-inspired experience that defines the Hard Rock Hotels brand.

Guests returning this winter can expect fully refurbished accommodations, redesigned public spaces and upgraded core amenities.

Both resorts will also receive overhauled meeting and convention facilities, while the beachfront wedding chapel at Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta will be renovated to provide an updated setting for destination weddings.

As part of the refresh, both properties will debut new collections of music memorabilia featuring artifacts from legendary performers and contemporary global artists, further highlighting Hard Rock's music heritage.

"This unprecedented transformation reflects our absolute commitment to innovation and excellence across our Mexican portfolio," said Ximo Blanch, general manager of Hard Rock Hotel Cancun, in a press release.

Erika Cruz, general manager of Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta added: “We are structurally altering how our guests experience the Caribbean and the Pacific, from the completely fresh energy of our luminous guestrooms to specialized spaces for every family member, including dedicated spaces for kids and teens.”

“By opening reservations today, we are giving our loyal community and new travellers the exclusive opportunity to secure their place at what will undoubtedly be the premier resort openings of the winter season.”

Hard Rock Hotels said the renovation timetable was intentionally planned to minimize disruption by avoiding the peak winter travel season.

During the temporary closures, the company's all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos, Riviera Maya and Punta Cana will continue operating as usual.
