Four Seasons to reopen Berlin property in 2027 following renovation
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will return to Germany with the opening of Four Seasons Hotel Berlin in 2027, following a large-scale renovation of the historic property in the city's Mitte district.
The renovation will encompass approximately 140 guest rooms and suites, restaurants and bars, while preserving the building's original façade.
The property, located along Bebelplatz, will operate as Hotel de Rome through 2026 under management by Gruppo Statuto, with select services remaining open during renovations.
"We are proud to mark our return to Germany, reestablishing Four Seasons as the leading luxury hospitality offering in the market," said Alejandro Reynal, president and chief executive officer of Four Seasons.
"Berlin is an important European destination to add to our global portfolio, and we look forward to collaborating once again with Gruppo Statuto, with whom we have an exceptional track record of introducing Four Seasons legendary service and experiences to some of the region's most dynamic destinations."
The building, originally constructed in the late 1800s as the Dresdner Bank headquarters, was converted to a hotel in 2006.
It sits near St. Hedwig's Cathedral and the Unter den Linden State Opera, with the Brandenburg Gate, Gendarmenmarkt and Museum Island within walking distance.
Christian Poda, who most recently served as regional vice president and general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, will lead the property as general manager.
Poda, who was born and raised in Berlin, has been with Four Seasons for 26 years.
Architectural firm Humbert & Poyet will oversee design across guest rooms, suites and common areas.
The property will feature three restaurant and bar concepts, including a rooftop terrace.
Additional amenities will include spa and fitness facilities located in a former jewel vault, and more than 1,000 square metres of meeting and event space.
The hotel is located less than one hour from Berlin Brandenburg Airport and 15 minutes from Berlin Central Station, which offers high-speed rail connections to major German and European cities.
Four Seasons and Gruppo Statuto have previously partnered on properties in Italy, including San Domenico Palace, Taormina, Four Seasons Hotel Milano and the forthcoming Danieli, A Four Seasons Hotel, Venice.
