“A very fun day”: Quark & Globus take agents on expedition & culinary-inspired adventure in B.C.
Sometimes you don’t need to go any further than your own backyard to create an adventure of a lifetime.
That’s exactly what Quark Expeditions and the Globus family of brands did last Friday (April 11) in British Columbia, where it treated 40 travel advisors to a hands-on "Big Day Out" that, in a unique way, replicated the magic of expeditions and organized touring.
“The event was designed to educate valued travel partners about the unique benefits of expedition travel and the power of organized touring to unlock extraordinary experiences for their clients,” wrote Jake Rogers, an area sales director at Quark, on his social media.

B.C.'s backyard
The day-long adventure began early in downtown Vancouver, followed by a scenic journey along the Sea to Sky highway to Whistler.
There, advisors experienced the thrill of ziplining and took in beautiful views on the Peak to Peak Gondola.
Globus, inclusive of Avalon Waterways, sponsored a delicious lunch in Whistler, where organizers highlighted how organized touring can offer authentic culinary and cultural experiences.

From there, the group travelled to Squamish and boarded zodiacs for a “true expedition-style transfer” to Bowen Island, where they enjoyed an incredible dinner before wrapping up the day at Granville Island.
“The day was full of laughter, team-building games, brand updates, and product knowledge sessions—culminating in an exciting giveaway where one lucky advisor won a small ship cruise to Svalbard courtesy of Quark Expeditions,” Rogers noted, thanking participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to learning.

Speaking with PAX, Rogers said the day was organized to showcase “our incredible brands, and provide time for agents to get to know us more.”
“But it was also a great time to host such a fun and adventure-filled day, with everything that is going on in the world, and remind us why we love the travel industry so much,” he said.

"A very fun day"
Vancouver-based McKenzie McMillan of The Travel Group was one of the 40 travel pros who participated. In a statement to PAX, he called the experience “a very fun day.”
"It was a fabulous idea by Globus and Quark to give agents a feel for the expedition and tour life – without having to travel far,” McMillan said. "As well, in the context of the current global climate, it gave local advisors a great taste of what is on offer in our own backyard.”

He added that it was an “innovative approach” to the usual supplier-advisor outreach.
“It was definitely an experience that will stick with advisors,” he said, expressing his thanks to the organizers. “I loved the vibe throughout the whole day. It was very clear that it served as a bit of a reset for advisors that have been working hard over the past year in the face of so many obstacles and stresses.”
