Expedia Cruises recently celebrated its top-performing franchisees with a prestigious seven-night voyage down the Nile River.

The Presidents Circle Diamond Reward Trip is an annual event and this year it was held from Sept. 18-25 in Egypt.

According to a press release, the event brought together over 70 guests, including high-achieving franchisees, the Expedia Cruises leadership team, and senior executives from the world’s leading travel suppliers.

This year's journey was held in partnership with AmaWaterways, aboard the luxurious AmaLilia, showcasing the power of partnership, connection and exploration.

Pre-cruise adventure in Jordan

The adventure began before the cruise even set sail.

Many attendees opted for a pre-cruise land tour through Jordan, a four-night extension that included visits to the ancient Roman ruins of Jerash, a float in the mineral-rich Dead Sea, and an exploration of the rock-carved city of Petra.

The experience was capped with a thrilling jeep tour through the stunning desert landscapes of Wadi Rum.

From there, the group embarked on their Nile River cruise from Luxor, Egypt. The AmaLilia served as a floating hotel, providing unparalleled comfort and service as it navigated one of the world's most historic waterways.

Life on the Nile

The itinerary was a carefully curated exploration of Egypt's most iconic treasures. Daily port visits allowed guests to immerse themselves in thousands of years of history.

Key highlights of the cruise included the Valley of the Kings (a visit to the legendary necropolis of pharaohs, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun), explorations of the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Temple of Horus at Edfu, and Philae Temple and a visit to Abu Simbel, an historic site featuring the colossal rock-cut temples of Ramesses II.

Guests also enjoyed a motorboat visit to a traditional Nubian village and sailed on a classic felucca around Elephantine Island.

The journey concluded with a flight to Cairo for a final visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Connection & collaboration

The Presidents Circle trip is “a vital opportunity for connection and collaboration,” the company said.

This year’s group included 15 Presidents Circle Diamond Franchisees and eight Presidents Circle Platinum Franchisees, representing the highest levels of achievement.

They were joined by 13 esteemed supplier partners, with senior executives from AmaWaterways, Azamara, Carnival Cruise Line, Globus Family of Brands, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Seabourn, and Sunwing.

"This gathering of industry leaders creates a unique environment for our Franchisees. Whether sharing insights during an excursion, networking over cocktails, or building relationships at dinner, franchisees gain invaluable face time with key decision-makers,” the company said. “Every moment is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and strengthen the partnerships that drive our collective success.”

Celebrating the wins

For Andrew Devisser, an Expedia Cruises Franchisee, what stood out was how AmaWaterways made the experience feel seamless.

“The way they managed the logistics, the care, and all the little details went far beyond ordinary,” stated Devisser. “I felt safe and cared for every step of the way. That, to me, is what it means to ‘travel well.’ And it’s why I feel so confident encouraging others to step out and take these journeys for themselves.”

It was also “incredibly special” to celebrate wins and successes with colleagues, partners, and corporate leadership, and to be part of the group recognized as top performers, Devisser said.

“That moment of shared celebration added so much meaning to the experience and reminded me how proud I am of the work we do together,” he said.

A “life-changing experience”

Erin Douglas, senior vice president, trade sales at MSC Cruises, called the trip a “truly life-changing experience.”

“This journey was a powerful reminder that when passionate, driven individuals unite with a common purpose, the possibilities are limitless,” Douglas stated. “Just as the ancient Egyptians built monuments that have stood the test of time, our collective efforts in this industry are building something lasting — thriving businesses that create unforgettable travel experiences for clients around the world.”

What stood out most was the strength of the Expedia Cruises Franchisee community – “a group that not only delivers exceptional results but uplifts, supports, and celebrates one another,” Douglas said.

“The collaboration, mentorship, and shared vision among this network are a true testament to the idea that we are always stronger together,” Douglas said.
