Tauck’s new ms Harmonie to double Rhône capacity in 2028

Tauck has announced the ms Harmonie, a new riverboat joining its French fleet in 2028.

The vessel will be a sister ship to the ms Lumière and will double Tauck’s capacity on the Rhône. 

Its design was shaped in part by feedback from the company’s river cruise guests.

“River cruising continues to be one of the most popular ways guests first experience Tauck, and the feedback our river guests have shared over the years shapes every ship we build,” said Tauck CEO Jennifer Tombaugh. 

“The name Harmonie, which carries the same meaning in French and English, speaks to what we hope guests feel on board and along the river: a sense of balance, ease and connection to the places we explore.”

Built for cruising the Rhône, the ms Harmonie will share the deck plan and onboard spaces of the ms Lumière. 

It will accommodate up to 130 guests, which Tauck says is up to 30 per cent fewer than comparably sized riverboats.

The Sun Deck will include a swimming pool, full-service bar and shaded day beds for outdoor dining. 

The Retreat, located on the upper Diamond Deck, will feature a fitness centre, massage treatment room and lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Other onboard spaces will include Arthur’s casual dining venue, skylit atriums, lounges and 300-square-foot Tauck Suites.

Five new riverboats by 2028

The ms Harmonie is part of a multi-year expansion of Tauck’s river fleet.

The company is introducing five riverboats between 2026 and 2028. 

The ms Lumière and ms Serene debuted in 2026, while the ms Reverie and ms Saudade are scheduled to arrive in 2027. 

The ms Harmonie will follow in 2028.

Tauck will also retire two older vessels as part of the fleet renewal.

By 2028, the company expects its river cruising capacity to increase by more than 50 per cent. 

Its plans also include additional shoulder-season departures, more destinations and a new six-day cruise format for travellers with less time.

Demand for Tauck’s Rhône cruises is running nearly 30 per cent ahead of 2025 levels, according to the company.

The ms Harmonie will sail alongside the ms Lumière on itineraries including Savoring France: Paris, Lyon & Provence.

Additional itineraries are expected to be announced for 2028.

Tauck’s cruise fares include shore excursions, gratuities, onboard beverages, airport transfers, luggage handling, taxes and fees.

Travellers can reserve a 2028 itinerary and departure date before pricing and final itinerary details are released this fall. 

Reservations may be cancelled for a full deposit refund once those details are announced.
