Silversea’s Silver Shadow departed San Francisco on Jan. 15, embarking upon the Far East-West World Cruise 2024, the cruise line announced Wednesday (Jan. 17).
Travellers will journey from east to west on a 132-day round-trip itinerary that will encompass most of the Pacific Rim, from Hawaii and remote Pacific isles, to Australia and New Zealand, through Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and back across the Pacific to Alaska, Canada, and California.
In total, guests will visit 65 destinations across 14 countries, including 33 destinations that are entirely new for a Silversea World Cruise.
Plus, 20 overnight stays will unlock deeper cultural immersion.
The global voyage is scheduled to conclude in San Francisco on May 26, 2024.
Silversea’s VIP Meet & Greet service welcomed guests as they disembarked their business-class flights in San Francisco, subsequently taking private transfers to their overnight accommodation at the Fairmont Hotel.
On Jan. 14, Silversea hosted its World Cruise Bon Voyage event in the rotunda of the San Francisco City Hall, at which friends – old and new – came together to dine on a fusion of East-meets-West speciality cuisine.
Silversea’s President Barbara Muckermann was in attendance to bid travellers bon voyage.
“It was a huge pleasure to bid farewell and bon voyage to our guests on the Far East-West World Cruise 2024 last weekend with an exclusive event at City Hall in San Francisco,” she said. “It’s always special to spend quality time with our world cruise guests, who now embark upon an amazing 132-day journey from East to West – from one of the planet’s extremes to the other. Our guests will visit 65 destinations in 14 countries, including 33 destinations that are entirely new for a Silversea World Cruise. Enjoy this voyage of a lifetime and I look forward to seeing you all soon!”
Among a range of unique experiences, guests will enjoy a selection of bespoke World Cruise events, including:
An evening on the USS Missouri (Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii - January 21, 2024)
Guests will step back into the past and celebrate history at the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor. A warm Hawaiian welcome and bespoke dinner aboard this monument to a nation's might, accompanied by nostalgic music of the 1940s, are among the highlights.
A Night of Magic at Uluru (Darwin, Australia - March 7-8, 2024)
In the heart of Australia is Uluru, a solitary mountain with desert stretching out away from it as far as the eye can see. During an included overland program to this spiritual centre for the indigenous population, guests will be treated to a cultural event, along with dinner and entertainment under one of the world’s starriest night skies. Round-trip air travel and an overnight at a luxury hotel are included.
Where Majestic Temples Meet (Semarang, Java, Indonesia - March 19-20, 2024)
The Hindu temple of Prambanan and the Buddhist temple of Borobudur on Java, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, headline this included overland experience. An overnight at a luxury hotel in Yogyakarta offers the chance to see both impressive attractions, enjoy a sunset dinner event at Prambanan with the temples lit up magically at night, and a sunrise over the Temple of Borobudur the next day.
The Past and Future in Colour (Shanghai, China - April 8, 2024)
This unique multisensory dining experience, hosted high atop Shanghai's Pearl Tower, features a special menu created just for Silversea guests. Guests will go on a culinary journey from old Shanghai to modern China.
