Seabourn Venture makes its way through the Northwest Passage

Seabourn Venture departed from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, on Sunday on its first trip through the Northwest Passage.

Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen was the first to navigate through the passage 120 years ago with his vessel, Gjøa.

Seabourn Venture will travel on a 21-day journey and arrive at Nome on Sept. 17, offering guests a number of experiences and visits to remote destinations throughout the voyage, including Sisimiut, Greenland’s second-largest city with the best-preserved historic church in the country, and Croker Bay at Devon Island, the world’s largest uninhabited island in Baffin Bay off the coast of Nunavut.

Launched in July 2022, Seabourn Venture was purpose-built for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards.

The ship has a new innovative design created specifically for the ultra-luxury expedition traveller and is staffed with a 24-person expedition team.

Comprising highly regarded wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists, the team will regularly interact with guests, providing in-depth insights into the history, ecology and culture of the places they visit.

Seabourn Venture measures 558 feet, with close to 30,000 square-feet of deck space apiece.

Indoor and outdoor guest areas offer nearly 270-degree views, while a 4K GSS Cineflex Camera mounted on the mast of the ship’s Constellation Lounge broadcasts imagery of natural wonders from up to five miles away.

The ship is equipped with eight double kayaks and enough Zodiacs to transport every guest on expeditions at once, as well as two custom-built submarines, each with capacity for six.
