Riviera unveils themed voyages with gardening & royal family experts

Riviera River Cruises is offering two new themed river cruise departures in Europe this year with special guests who will give onboard lectures and join excursions. 

English gardening expert and TV presenter Charlie Dimmock will join a departure of the Gardens and Natural Beauty of the Rhône cruise, and two experts on the British royal family, former royal butler Grant Harrold and former royal chef Colin Alderson, will join a departure of the Rhine Cruise to Switzerland.

“We’re excited to have Charlie Dimmock, Grant Harrold and Colin Alderson join us and share their insight on these Rhône and Rhine departures,” said Marilyn Conroy, executive VP, sales and marketing North America for Riviera. “Itineraries like these allow us to expand our reach and appeal to those with special interests who have yet to take a river cruise, and they’re also great for repeat guests who might want to try something new.”

The departures with gardening and royal family experts are:

Gardens and Natural Beauty of the Rhône with Charlie Dimmock, eight days departing Oct. 11, 2024: Charlie Dimmock, host of the BBC’s “Garden Rescue” TV program, will give lectures and join guests on excursions. Includes nine visits and tours to sites such as Parc de la Tête d’Or’s botanical garden in Lyon, Jardin des Villes in Vienne, Rocher des Doms in Avignon and the L’Escape Van Gogh landscape garden in Arles. Starts at $2,999 per person based on double occupancy.

Rhine Cruise to Switzerland with the Royal Butler and Chef, eight days departing Oct. 17, 2024: Riviera’s classic Rhine Cruise to Switzerland gets the royal treatment with former royal butler Grant Harrold and former royal chef Colin Alderson, who will give lectures about their time working with the late Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III and more. Includes seven visits and tours to historic cities and towns such as Strasbourg, Koblenz, Rüdesheim and Speyer. Starts at $2,599 per person based on double occupancy.
