Norwegian Cruise Line Holding Ltd. cuts the ribbon on Harvest Caye in Belize
The Harvest Caye ribbon-cutting ceremony (L to R): Colin Murphy, senior vice-president of destination and strategic development for NCLH; Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow, wife of Belize’s Prime Minister Dean Barrow; Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation for Belize; Hon. Edmond Castro, Minister of State for National Emergency Management for Belize

Yesterday morning (Nov. 17), guests onboard the Norwegian Dawn, sailing from New Orleans, were the first to experience Harvest Caye, the highly anticipated, new resort-style port of call in southern Belize.

Developed by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH), which operates the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, Harvest Caye is located just 1.6 kilometres offshore and is the only port in Belize that features a cruise ship pier.

Offering many resort-style amenities, guests who visit Harvest Caye have access to a seven acre beach, a 15,000 sq. ft. pool, multiple dining options, luxury villas that are available for daily rental, a nature centre with wildlife experiences, a variety of shopping opportunities, and a wide range of daily activities, including a cross-island zip line, ropes course, kayaking, paddle boarding and more. There is also a marina located close to the pier that serves as a convenient departure point for a wide variety of shore excursions into the region, such as trips to Mayan ruins, river rafting, nature tours and more.

“Harvest Caye is truly the ultimate Belizean experience and we are delighted to welcome our first guests today,” said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “We have worked closely with the government of Belize to ensure that that this spectacular destination was authentic for our guests, provided economic opportunities for the local community and preserved and protected Belize’s incredible natural beauty. We’re overjoyed with the results of this four year development project, and we look forward to seeing Harvest Caye and Southern Belize grow as we delight the many guests that will call on the destination.”

Travellers will have the opportunity to visit Harvest Caye on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Western Caribbean itineraries, as well as on select Caribbean sailings on Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises in Winter 2017 and Fall/Winter 2018.
