New wellness & dining experiences coming aboard Norwegian Aura

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled new wellness and dining experiences coming aboard Norwegian Aura, the cruise line’s largest ship to date and newest vessel in its Prima Plus Class.

Among the highlights are what NCL calls the cruise industry’s most expansive Thermal Suite, featuring 15 wellness experiences, as well as Tamara, the line’s first specialty restaurant dedicated to Indian cuisine, and The Panorama Room, a new complimentary dining concept.

"Norwegian Aura is all about giving guests more of what they love, with spaces and experiences that make vacation feel even easier," said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, in a press release.

"From Tamara, our new Indian specialty restaurant, which expands the already guest-favorite eatery in Indulge to an elevated culinary offering; to The Panorama Room's immersive dining experience and our most expansive Thermal Suite to date, every addition has been purposefully designed to give guests more freedom, choice and opportunities to relax, recharge and enjoy their vacation their way, without compromise."

A new era of wellness

Spanning two decks, Norwegian Aura’s Mandara Spa will be designed by Rockwell Group, with spaces inspired by forest canopies, caves, waterfalls and other elements of nature.

At its centre will be a Thermal Suite offering 15 wellness amenities, including 11 new experiences focused on contrast therapy.

One of the signature additions will be the Sensory Rain Pool, which NCL says will be the first of its kind at sea. The 360-degree experience will transition from calm waters to tropical rainfall and eventually a simulated thunderstorm featuring lightning effects and rolling thunder.

Other new features include a Blue Glow Suite, Foot Spa, Waterfall Experience, Snow Cave, Reflection Pool and guided hot and cold plunge experiences.

Guests will also have access to a Salt Room, Meditation Lounge, Aromatic Steam Room, Finnish Sauna, Charcoal Sauna and Zen Lounge.

The spa will include 24 treatment rooms, a full-service salon, Skin Lab and expanded medi-spa services, including IV therapy and NAD+ injections. Acupuncture will also be available, while the ship will feature a fitness centre with dedicated training studios and wellness programming.

New dining concepts

Norwegian Aura will feature 22 food and beverage options spanning more than 10 cuisines.

Making its debut will be Tamara, NCL’s first specialty restaurant devoted to Indian cuisine. The concept builds on the popularity of Indian offerings at Indulge Food Hall aboard the Prima Class ships.

Located on Deck 8, Tamara will feature an open-view kitchen with tandoor ovens. Menu items will include Short-Rib Dosa, Lamb Biryani and a tableside Green Papaya Salad.

Also new is The Panorama Room, a complimentary dining venue on Deck 6 that will use LED displays, multi-channel audio, synchronized lighting and changing visuals to create immersive environments during meals.

Hudson’s, the ship’s main dining room featuring 270-degree ocean views, will also debut a new design.

Several familiar NCL restaurants will return with refreshed or expanded spaces, including Le Bistro, Sukhothai, Palomar, Onda by Scarpetta, Cagney’s Steakhouse, Hasuki and Nama.

Surfside Café will be expanded to span both sides of the vessel, while Indulge Food Hall will return with nine globally inspired stations, including a new Middle Eastern concept.

Guests staying in The Haven will have access to a newly designed Haven Bar and Lounge and Haven Restaurant, with spaces created by Studio DADO.

More space to gather

Bars and lounges throughout Norwegian Aura are also being redesigned and expanded.

The Penrose Bar & Atrium will have more than double the seating and a dedicated entertainment stage. Metropolitan Bar, Swirl Wine Bar, Belvedere Bar and Whiskey Bar will return with refreshed interiors, while the Daybreak Bar on Deck 18 will overlook the pool.

Norwegian Aura will also feature Ocean Heights, a family activity zone that will transition from day to night using immersive lighting and LED projections.

The space will include six slides, an 82-foot Aura Ropes Course, Moon Climber, carnival-style games and a nine-hole mini-golf course. NCL’s first overhanging cabanas overlooking Vibe Beach Club will also be introduced.

Norwegian Aura sets sail in 2027

Norwegian Aura is scheduled to make its debut on May 21, 2027, with a seven-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain, followed by a 13-day transatlantic sailing to Miami.

During the summers of 2027 and 2028, the ship will operate seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries visiting destinations including Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola and NCL’s Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

For winter 2027-28, Norwegian Aura will operate week-long Western Caribbean voyages featuring Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Harvest Caye, NCL’s private destination off the coast of Belize.
