Holland America Line rolls out 2027–28 Legendary Voyages

Holland America Line has released its full 2027–2028 Legendary Voyages season, including its first Caribbean-based Legendary Voyage, the 28-Day Pan Am 100 Years Legendary Voyage, and a 28-Day Solar Eclipse & Cosmic Port Explorer itinerary designed around viewing a solar eclipse at sea while exploring the region’s archeoastronomy.

The season also brings back longer itineraries such as the 47-Day Ultimate Mediterranean & Atlantic Passage, along with a refreshed 28-Day Legendary Amazon Explorer that will sail roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale in January 2028. 

Across the lineup, the cruises are positioned as longer stays and extended time ashore, with routes spanning Alaska, Europe, the South Pacific, the Caribbean, South America, and the Amazon.

“Our guests are always looking for adventures that feel personal and unforgettable, whether that's following the paths of ancient explorers, watching a solar eclipse at sea or spending unhurried time in some of the world's most storied cities,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president of revenue planning and deployment. 

“These new Legendary Voyages tap deeply into those desires, blending historic routes, rare access and extraordinary port time with the premium onboard experience our long-time cruisers return for again and again.”

Voyage highlights

• Twelve Mediterranean countries, roundtrip from New York City: The line’s 47-Day Ultimate Mediterranean & Atlantic Passage returns in 2027, sailing roundtrip from New York and visiting 21 ports across 12 countries. The itinerary includes a late-night call in Civitavecchia (Rome), an overnight in Alexandria, and an overnight in Istanbul.
• A Legendary foray into the golden age of travel: Holland America Line and Pan Am World Airways have partnered on the 28-Day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage, which retraces historic Clipper routes across the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America. The voyage departs Miami on Oct. 30, 2027 aboard Zuiderdam, visits 18 destinations, and follows Pan Am’s Great Circle Route, with nearly half the ports included on the airline’s original schedules. The sailing includes themed programming, period-inspired touches and historical content.
• Chasing the shadow of the sun: The 28-Day Legendary Solar Eclipse & Cosmic Port Explorer departs July 10, 2027 aboard Nieuw Statendam, sailing roundtrip from Rotterdam or Dover and calling on 13 ports across Denmark, the U.K., France, Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, and Morocco. The itinerary includes overnight calls in Tilbury, England, and Barcelona, Spain, and is built around a solar eclipse viewable at sea off the coast of Morocco. The line also points to archeoastronomy-focused excursions, including sites such as the Alhambra Palace in Malaga, Spain, and Montjuic Hill and Observatory in Barcelona.

Onboard programming

Across the season, Legendary Voyages include onboard programming such as:

• Themed dinners and parties, including the Orange Party
• Local cultural performances
• A resident classical ensemble
• Art and craft classes, watercolour instruction and creative writing workshops
• Religious services with resident Catholic, Protestant and Jewish clergy
• Commemorative cruise logs, commemorative gifts, premium turndown service and a Captain’s Gala Dinner

What Holland America means by “Legendary Voyage”

The cruise line describes Legendary Voyages as longer cruises that combine elements of its Grand Voyages with a focus on a single region or narrative. 

These sailings—ranging from 25 to 59 days—include extended exploration opportunities and curated onboard programming tied to the destinations visited.

• 35-Day Legendary South Pacific Crossing: Tahiti & Honolulu — Sydney to Seattle, departs Mar. 26, 2028, aboard Westerdam
