Holland America adds new suites, solo cabins to Zuiderdam in latest upgrade

Holland America Line is continuing its fleet-wide Evolution program, announcing that Zuiderdam will be the second ship to undergo a major transformation as part of what the cruise line calls the largest fleet update in its 153-year history.

Following the upcoming refurbishment of Oosterdam, Zuiderdam will receive new accommodations, refreshed staterooms and public spaces, as well as the addition of the popular Grand Dutch Café.

The cruise line also unveiled the first renderings of its new Pinnacle and Bridgeview Suites, offering a preview of one of the ship's most significant enhancements.

Bookings for Zuiderdam's post-refurbishment sailings will open on July 30, with itinerary details expected to be announced soon.

“We’ve seen strong interest in our Bridgeview Suites and Solo Verandahs on Oosterdam, and we’re excited to make these new accommodations available on Zuiderdam,” said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, in a press release. “We’re building on that momentum and look forward to sharing more details, including itineraries, very soon.”

As part of the Evolution upgrade, Zuiderdam will gain two new Bridgeview Suites, located above the bridge with wraparound windows, private balconies and separate living and sleeping areas.

The ship will also introduce 32 Solo Verandah staterooms, designed specifically for solo travellers, along with 14 Vista Suites, a category previously available only on the line's Pinnacle Class ships.

The ship's Pinnacle Suite will also be redesigned with expanded residential-style living space, upgraded finishes and panoramic ocean views.

In addition, accommodations throughout the vessel will receive refreshed interiors.

Beyond the stateroom enhancements, Zuiderdam will become home to the Grand Dutch Café, a venue inspired by Amsterdam cafés that serves coffee, beer, cocktails and light fare throughout the day.

Holland America says the Zuiderdam location will be the largest Grand Dutch Café introduced as part of the Evolution program.

The announcement follows the earlier reveal that Oosterdam will be the first ship to debut the Evolution enhancements.

Bookings are already open for Oosterdam's first post-refurbishment voyages, marking the launch of the multi-ship modernization program.

Zuiderdam is the second of six ships announced for the Holland America Evolution initiative as the cruise line continues rolling out upgrades across its fleet.
