Explora Journeys plans entry into river cruising
Explora Journeys is planning to enter the river cruise market.
The luxury cruise brand has signed a letter of intent with Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen Shipyard for the construction of its first river ships.
The move would expand Explora Journeys beyond ocean cruising and onto Europe's rivers.
Explora Journeys is the privately owned luxury ocean travel brand of MSC Group, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
Its ocean fleet currently includes EXPLORA I, EXPLORA II and EXPLORA III, with three additional ships scheduled to join through 2028.
The company said it plans to bring its Ocean State of Mind philosophy, which shapes its ocean cruise experience, to its new river offering.
Details about the ships' design, onboard experiences, delivery schedule and initial itineraries will be announced later, with sales expected to open in 2027.
