Contiki cleans up in Toronto

On Sept.15, the Contiki Canada team, with TreadRight in tow, took to the shores of Toronto’s Humber River to take part in the annual Humber River Clean-Up, organized by 1-800-RID-OF-IT, which sends volunteers out into the banks of the Humber River in Toronto’s west end to haul out trash that has been washed ashore.

The Humber is a tributary of Lake Ontario and collects from more than 750 creeks and tributaries in the area north of Canada’s largest city. Unlike some other bodies of water in the Greater Toronto Area, the Humber - designated as a Canadian Heritage River - is navigable and used for recreational activities as well as fishing.

Contiki staff receive two volunteer days per year to participate in events like the Humber River Clean-Up.
