Avalon boosts Seine capacity for 2027
Avalon Waterways says it is adjusting its France river cruise lineup as demand for French itineraries continues to climb.
The 128-passenger Avalon Artistry II will reposition to the Seine River beginning in 2027, after completing Bordeaux sailings through the 2026 season.
Avalon says the move will add capacity on the Seine, where Paris-and-Normandy itineraries remain among its strongest performers.
“Avalon is committed to growing with purpose,” said Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways.
“That means listening closely to our guests and aligning our fleet of Suite Ships with destinations where river cruising delivers the greatest depth, diversity and demand. France continues to outperform, particularly along the Seine, and we’re making moves to support that momentum for guests.”
Avalon says France continues to be a key market in its European portfolio, with strong bookings on both the Seine and Rhône Rivers.
The company points to the range of experiences available across its French river itineraries, from Monet’s gardens and the beaches of Normandy to Burgundy’s vineyards and Provence’s culinary markets.
Avalon also says more travellers are combining multiple French river itineraries, looking for deeper immersion tied to the country’s wine, cuisine, culture and countryside.
Avalon introduced its Bordeaux itinerary in 2025, sailing the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers, and says the program has resonated with wine-focused travellers seeking a smaller-scale, vineyard-oriented experience.
The company will continue operating Bordeaux sailings through the 2026 season as planned, including a robust selection of included Avalon Choice Excursions.
“When guests show us where they want to go, we meet them there,” added Hoffee. “Right now, that place is France – specifically sailing along the Seine and Rhône Rivers.”
