Alaska cruise passengers killed in plane crash

Eight passengers and a pilot were killed after a sightseeing plane crashed in a remote area of southern Alaska on Thursday.

According to the CBC, the passengers were travelling aboard Holland America’s ms Westerdam and were taking part in a sightseeing excursion offered by Promech Air as part of a cruise package. Emergency officials have not yet indicated a possible reason for the crash and the names of the victims have not been released, the report said.

Recovery efforts and an investigation into the incident continue.
