Journalist Marie-Julie Gagnon joins PAX’s editorial team

The Pax Global Media team is pleased to welcome journalist Marie-Julie Gagnon to its ranks.

With more than 30 years of experience in the media industry, she has contributed to numerous publications, television programs and radio shows over the years, with travel serving as the common thread throughout her career for nearly two decades.

“I have known Marie-Julie for more than 15 years and am delighted to have her on board,” says Marie-Klaude Gagnon, president of Pax Global Media. “Her curiosity, energy and enthusiasm are contagious. She will support our editor-in-chief, Serge Abel-Normandin, while also reporting from the field, like our journalist Marjorie Dumoulin-Lafond. Passionate about current affairs, she is always keeping a close eye on news affecting the travel industry.”

Marie-Julie Gagnon will also work closely with Michael Pihach, editor-in-chief of PAX News. She will also cover international conferences and conventions, contributing to PAX’s editorial coverage across Canada.

Marie-Julie Gagnon’s work has appeared in the Plaisirs section of the daily newspaper Le Devoir, as well as in the magazines Bel Âge, Véro, Châtelaine and Art(s) in France. She has also been heard on Radio-Canada ICI Première.

For 10 years, this native of Bleuets country was a travel columnist for the now-defunct website Avenues.ca, where she also wrote articles about travel and tourism news from Canada and around the world.

The creator of Taxi-Brousse, one of the first French-language travel blogs, Marie-Julie Gagnon has published some 15 books, including travel guides and essays devoted to travel.

“I started travelling ‘backwards,’” says Marie-Julie Gagnon. “I did a three-month internship as a video reporter in Ouagadougou before visiting Paris. I lived in Taiwan for a year and a half before touring gelaterias in Italy and exploring Canada from coast to coast. I fully embrace being a ‘tourist,’ while remaining mindful of human rights and the environment.”

Giving industry professionals a voice

In addition to closely monitoring the latest news, Marie-Julie Gagnon hopes to give industry professionals a voice as often as possible.
