Un-retired: Howard Tanenbaum joins Iberostar as VP of sales, NA

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has appointed veteran hospitality executive Howard Tanenbaum as vice president of sales, North America, marking his return to the travel industry following retirement.

“One can only relax for so long before the hospitality business starts calling your name again,” Tanenbaum, formally of Playa Hotels and Resorts, wrote on his LinkedIn page on Thursday (June 25).

“The truth is, I’ve missed the energy of the industry, the challenge of building great businesses, and most importantly, the incredible people who make our industry so special.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining Iberostar, a legendary, pioneer in all-inclusives with world-class resorts set in the most idyllic locations. Our amazing and talented teams are working harder than ever to shape the next chapter of growth and earn your business.”

Tanenbaum added that he looks forward to reconnecting with old friends, former colleagues, industry partners, and meeting plenty of new faces along the way as he settles into his new role.

“If it’s been a while since we’ve talked, please drop me a note. I’d love to catch up, hear what’s new, share a few stories, and maybe prove that "retirement" was always more of a temporary pause than a permanent destination,” he wrote. “Looking forward to reconnecting—and to this exciting new adventure!”
