Heritage Expeditions appoints Meg Murgatroyd as sales director Americas
Heritage Expeditions has expanded its North American growth strategy with the appointment of travel pro Meg Murgatroyd as its new sales director Americas.
The newly-created role comes as the family-owned small-ship expedition cruise company continues to strengthen its presence in Canada and the United States following the recent announcement of its maiden season aboard the new 130-guest expedition ship, Heritage Discoverer.
Heritage Expeditions Commercial Director Aaron Russ noted how Murgatroyd brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across the travel industry, with a strong track record of building trade partnerships, developing sales strategies and driving commercial growth.
"Meg is one of the most respected sales leaders in the North American expedition travel trade, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Heritage Expeditions family," said Russ in a press release.
"Meg's appointment represents an important investment in strengthening our relationships with travel advisors and trade partners across the region. Her deep industry relationships, commercial expertise and proven ability to build successful trade partnerships make her the ideal person to lead this next phase of our growth in this market."
Heritage expands footprint
Based in Toronto, Murgatroyd will oversee Heritage Expeditions' sales strategy, travel advisor engagement and trade partnerships across Canada and the United States as the company looks to expand its footprint in the region.
Murgatroyd, who previously headed trade sales for Just You, described joining the company as "a return to my expedition cruising roots."
"Returning to expedition cruising feels like coming home," she said. "What drew me to Heritage Expeditions is it has never lost sight of what authentic expedition travel is all about. Built by conservationists, biologists and adventurers, the company has spent more than 40 years inspiring travellers to experience some of the world's wildest places with purpose and authenticity."
"With the arrival of Heritage Discoverer and an expanding global programme, there has never been a more exciting time to introduce new North American travellers and trade partners to Heritage Expeditions. I'm looking forward to working alongside our trade partners to create new opportunities together, and to inspire more travellers to experience expedition cruising at its very best."
Murgatroyd's experience spans expedition cruising, escorted touring, supplier management and retail travel.
Throughout her career, she has worked with leading travel brands to strengthen their market presence through strategic collaboration and travel advisor engagement.
