As Playa’s portfolio becomes integrated into Hyatt’s broader Inclusive Collection, some key team members have stepped into newly-elevated roles.

Amanda Morris, previously director of sales for USA and Canada at Playa Hotels and Resorts, has been named director of retail sales, overseeing the same countries, for Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection in the Americas.

In her new position, Morris will lead the retail sales team for Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection across the two regions, with a focus on driving revenue, strengthening strategic partnerships, and ensuring travel advisors feel supported every step of the way.

She officially started her new role last month.

Brian Joseph, meanwhile, has been promoted to senior sales manager for Canada at Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection.

In his new position, Joseph, previously a business development manager, will oversee the brand’s national sales team and continue supporting our partners across the region.

Moving forward, business development manager contacts for Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection include Karla Laurenzana (karla.laurenzana@hyatt.com), who will support Southern Ontario (south of Sudbury and North Bay), including West to East Ontario (Windsor to Ottawa).

Scott Reid (scott.reid@hyatt.com) will support Northern Ontario, including Sudbury, North Bay, and regions further north, and Heather Kearns (heather.kearns@hyatt.com) remains as the Weddings and Romance BDM for Canada.

“These changes are part of a broader evolution across Canada, with additional updates to come. Your BDM remains your key partner for sales support, training, and ongoing collaboration,” Joseph wrote in a message to trade partners on Facebook.

“It has truly been a privilege to work with you over the past 10 years. I’m incredibly grateful for your continued support, trust, and the relationships we’ve built together.”

“I’m confident that this next chapter will bring even greater value to you and your business, and I know Karla and Scott are both looking forward to working closely with you. Thank you again for your partnership.”

A landmark move

Hyatt Hotels Corporation completed its acquisition of Playa Hotels & Resorts in June of 2025.

The transaction, valued at $2.6 billion (USD), includes the acquisition of 15 all-inclusive resorts previously managed and owned by Playa.

Of those properties, eight were already represented within Hyatt’s system as Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara properties.

Last December, Hyatt sold Playa’s real estate holdings to Tortuga Resorts in a transaction valued at roughly $2 billion (USD).

Under the agreement, Hyatt may receive up to an additional $143 million in earnout payments if specified performance benchmarks are achieved.

The company also retained a $200 million preferred equity stake in Tortuga as part of the arrangement.
