WestJet & Icelandair drop Halifax routes for summer 2027
(Halifax Stanfield International Airport)

Halifax will lose three transatlantic routes next summer, with WestJet removing Copenhagen and Madrid from its planned schedule and Icelandair ending its seasonal service to Reykjavik.

According to AeroRoutes, WestJet has removed Halifax–Copenhagen, Halifax–Madrid and Toronto Pearson–Glasgow from its summer 2027 schedule.

Both affected Halifax routes launched during summer 2026. Their removal reduces the airport’s nonstop European options after just one season of operation.

Icelandair, meanwhile, will operate its final scheduled Halifax flight on Oct. 18, 2026, and will not return for summer 2027, an airline spokesperson confirmed to Icelandic broadcaster RÚV.

The spokesperson said the carrier regularly adjusts its schedule to respond to customer demand. Passengers with bookings for 2027 have had their flights cancelled, according to the report.
