WestJet is pulling its Toronto service out of Moncton, N.B, effective April 30, according to a report.

As WestJet implements a plan for building connectivity in Western Canada, encore flights between Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport and Toronto Pearson Airport will soon be removed.

Courtney Burns, Greater Moncton Airport's president & CEO, confirmed the change with CTV News on Wednesday (March 8).

“For the flights directly to Toronto for WestJet, versus what we were expecting, it represents about 14,000 total seats lost over the course of this summer,” Burns told the outlet.

WestJet said it provided impacted guests “with as much advance notice as possible” either directly, or through their travel agent.

Impacted guests are being provided with the option of arranging alternative travel arrangements or a refund to their original form of payment.

WestJet will remain in Moncton, although with new routes set to launch this June – this being, three direct flights to Calgary each week and two direct flights to Edmonton each week, Burns said.

Travellers in Moncton, meanwhile, still have direct options to Toronto and the greater city area – Air Canada flies to Toronto Pearson, Porter flies to Billy Bishop Toronto Island and Swoop offers service to Hamilton.
