U.S.-bound flights cancelled after odour detected at Montreal airport

U.S.-bound flights from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport were cancelled Wednesday morning (July 29) after an odour was reported in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) area, according to CTV.

The smell, which was linked to construction material, prompted USCBP to temporarily suspend its operations.

“Every effort is being made to resume operations as quickly as possible,” Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) said. 

“Passengers are encouraged to check the status of their flight with their airline before travelling to the airport.”

An airport spokesperson told CBC that ventilation had been increased in the affected area. 

The Montreal fire department also inspected the site and determined that the situation did not pose a health risk.
