A United Airlines flight bound for Belgium made an emergency landing in Halifax on Tuesday night, after a fire was reported on board.
According to a report by The Canadian Press, the Boeing 777 landed safely at Halifax’s Stanfield International Airport at around 9:50 p.m. (Atlantic time) on Aug. 5, after the crew discovered a fire on the craft. The plane was travelling from Newark, New Jersey to Brussels, Belgium, with 233 people on board.
The report states that an airport spokesperson said the fire, described as occurring in a ‘contained area,’ was extinguished before the pilot declared the emergency landing. No injuries were reported.
