SAA launches Ghana-DC service

South African Airways has launched its inaugural flight between Accra, Ghana and Washington DC.

Following a ceremony in Ghana on July 31, the flight departed from Accra’s Kotoka International Airport on Aug. 2 to Washington Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C., carrying guests including the Ghanaian Minister of Transportation, Honourable Dzifa Aku Attivo, as well as a contingent of high-profile Ghanaian government officials, executives and media.

SAA also announced it has concluded a Commercial Cooperation Agreement with Africa World Airlines (AWA), the Ghanaian domestic carrier which will offer customers further connections into West Africa. With the new Accra-Washington service, the airline now serves 24 African countries, with Ghana being the carrier’s second West African country with air links to North America.
