Report: Air Canada set to drop Montreal–Edinburgh route next summer
It appears that Air Canada may discontinue its seasonal Montreal–Edinburgh route next summer, just months after launching the service in June.
The airline has been running three weekly Boeing 737 MAX flights between Montreal–Trudeau airport (YUL) and Edinburgh Airport (EDI) this summer, with the final departure set for September 7.
As first reported in Simple Flying, data from aviation analytics firm Cirium shows that Air Canada has not planned any Montreal–Edinburgh flights for summer 2026.
The route’s inaugural flight took off from Montreal on June 27.
An Air Canada spokesperson told Simple Flying that it is "too early" to confirm if its Montreal-Edinburgh route will return, stating:
"Air Canada constantly evaluates its routes and performance. It is too early at this time to comment on the possible return of this route."
The airline isn’t pulling out of Edinburgh altogether, however. Air Canada also serves the Scottish airport from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and is set to restore that route next summer, offering daily peak-season flights on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The route out of YUL—Montreal’s only nonstop link to Scotland—was Air Canada’s most recent addition to its European network out of the city, following new flights to Naples and Porto this summer.
