Possible missile fragments found at MH17 site
As investigators continue to examine wreckage in connection with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, new developments have come to light in the airline’s other 2014 tragedy.
A report by the BBC states that Dutch investigators at the crash site of MH17 in Ukraine have found possible fragments of a Russian BUK missile, adding to speculations that the aircraft was shot down by pro-Russian forces on July 17, 2014. The B777-200ER was carrying 283 passengers and 15 crew from Amsterdam to Kuala Lampur.
Investigators quoted in the report said the fragments will now undergo further analysis as part of the criminal investigation into the tragedy. A final report on the cause of the crash will be published by the Dutch Safety Board in October.
