Porter preps for start of five sun routes from Ottawa
Porter Airlines is inaugurating its winter schedule from Ottawa airport (YOW), bringing Canada’s capital closer to five southern destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Costa Rica.
Beginning this week, travellers can fly non-stop from Ottawa to Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Nassau (NAS), Cancun (CUN), Liberia (LIR) and Grand Cayman (GCM), with all routes starting within the next seven days.
Notably, Porter is now the only airline offering nonstop service from Ottawa to Grand Cayman and Liberia, providing exclusive access to these exciting destinations.
“The launch of these routes is a celebration of our growth to new regions and another demonstration of Porter’s commitment to Ottawa-Gatineau,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines, in a release. “This winter, Porter is offering more flights from YOW than any other carrier, serving 24 non-stop routes. We are giving local travellers more options than ever, while enjoying the elevated level of service and style that only Porter provides.”
Flights for every route beginning this month are operated by the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2.
The aircraft features a two-by-two seating configuration, meaning no middle seats for any passenger.
Porter’s onboard experience includes complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, premium Canadian snacks, and free Wi-Fi for every passenger.
New services from Ottawa begin on the following schedule:
Destination | Start Date | Peak Frequency |
|---|---|---|
Nassau (NAS) | Dec. 13 | 1x weekly |
Puerto Vallarta (PVR) | Dec. 13 | 6x weekly |
Cancun (CUN) | Dec. 17 | 6x weekly |
Liberia (LIR) | Dec. 17 | Daily |
Grand Cayman (GCM) | Dec. 19 | 2x weekly |
Porter provides a number of additional non-stop flights from YOW that offer winter appeal, featuring five markets in Florida.
Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa are currently operating, with Miami and Phoenix coming online in 2026.
