Porter expands American Airlines codeshare with nearly 40 Chicago connections

Porter Airlines is expanding its codeshare partnership with American Airlines for the Northern winter 2026-27 season, adding nearly 40 new U.S. routes through Chicago O'Hare International Airport.

According to Aeroroutes, the expanded agreement will allow Porter to place its code on a wide range of American-operated flights beyond Chicago, giving travellers access to more onward connections across the United States on a single itinerary.

The additional destinations span major business centres, leisure markets and regional cities, including Atlanta, Denver, Houston, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Tampa.

Other newly-added codeshare destinations include Albuquerque, Bozeman, Charleston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Fayetteville/Northwest Arkansas, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Louisville, Madison, Memphis, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orange County, Palm Springs, Raleigh-Durham, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Savannah, Tulsa, West Palm Beach and Wichita.

The expanded partnership is expected to improve connectivity for Porter customers travelling through American's Chicago hub, offering more one-stop access to destinations across the U.S. while allowing passengers to book itineraries under a Porter flight number.

The new codeshare routes are scheduled to be available during the winter 2026-27 season.

"A true competitive alternative"

Porter first announced its codeshare agreement with American Airlines in September 2025. 

For American, the deal addresses a long-standing gap in its Canadian service.

Unlike United and Delta—which have established partnerships with Air Canada and WestJet—American has lacked a significant regional Canadian partner.

In this regard, partnering with Porter was a logical move.

Meanwhile, Porter, as it has been well documented, has expanded beyond its regional roots with the addition of Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, now flying transcontinental routes and serving sun destinations in the U.S., Caribbean, and Mexico.

"This partnership with American Airlines provides a true competitive alternative for passengers needing more options when flying between Canada and the United States," said Porter’s Edmond Eldebs, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, in a statement last year.

"By initially combining Porter’s growing Canadian network with American’s extensive reach in the U.S. and southern destinations, we are offering improved connectivity, in combination with Porter’s commitment to high-quality service.”
