Porter & Brightline team up to offer winter savings
Florida’s intercity rail system Brightline and Porter Airlines have partnered up to offer savings in time for the 2025 season.
A collaboration that also involves VISIT FLORIDA, guests booking on Porter can receive 50 per cent off adult SMART fares on select Brightline trains between South Florida and Orlando.
“Florida is a favourite destination for travellers from Canada, particularly beginning in December as many winter residents make their way to Central and South Florida to escape the cold,” said Travis Christ, Brightline’s chief commercial officer, in a statement. “We welcome this partnership with Porter Airlines and VISIT FLORIDA to easily connect across Central and South Florida this season.”
Porter now offers up to 126 weekly departures from four Canadian airports including Toronto Pearson (YYZ), Montréal-Trudeau (YUL), Ottawa International (YOW) and Halifax Stanfield (YHZ) to the sunshine state.
Four Florida destinations now served by Porter feature Brightline stations: Orlando (MCO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), West Palm Beach (PBI) and Miami (MIA).
“Florida is a popular destination for our passengers and this partnership makes it even easier for them to explore the Sunshine State,” said Edmond Eldebs, senior vice president and chief commercial officer at Porter. “Our direct flights, combined with Brightline’s connectivity, provides the opportunity for travellers to easily enjoy multiple regions of the state by arriving at one airport and departing from another.”
Brightline’s expanded service in Orlando
Brightline expanded service to Orlando in September 2023, connecting thousands of guests each day between the “Theme Park Capital of the World” and “Cruise Capital of the World.”
The intercity rail service with South Florida downtown stations in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami makes it easy to travel between Orlando airport and these city centres and their many attractions.
Cruise Ports near Brightline stations include Port Miami, Port Everglades and Port of Palm Beach. Cruisers sailing from Port Canaveral can connect to transportation at Orlando International Airport.
For added connectivity, Brightline recently doubled its Airport Connector Shuttles service connecting Miami International (MIA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) to respective Brightline stations.
With added shuttle service due to growing demand, guests can now anticipate rides connecting South Florida’s two busiest airports to Brightline every 15 minutes.
Shuttle rides cost $10 for the first guest and $5 for every additional rider in the same party and are available on a first come, first served walk-up basis with a same-day Brightline train fare.
Shuttles depart 10 minutes after train arrival and offer service to and from Brightline stations every 15 minutes.
