Points take flight: Blue Rewards names Porter preferred airline partner

Blue Rewards and Porter Airlines have launched a new loyalty partnership that will allow members to earn VIPorter points faster while unlocking additional benefits across both programs.

Effective immediately, Blue Rewards members who link their Blue Rewards and VIPorter accounts can earn VIPorter points up to 20 per cent faster and receive bonus Blue Points when redeeming for eligible Porter Airlines flights through Blue Rewards Travel.

In the coming months, linked members will also be able to convert Blue Points into VIPorter points at a 2:1 ratio.

The agreement names Porter the preferred airline partner of Blue Rewards and builds on the airline’s existing relationship with BMO, which launched the BMO VIPorter Mastercard in 2025.

“By connecting their Blue Rewards and VIPorter accounts, Members can earn points faster and enjoy additional benefits along the way,” said Jennifer Hawkins, president, Blue Rewards. “We're bringing together the strengths of both programs to give Canadians more ways to make their travel more rewarding.”

As an introductory offer, members can earn 500 Blue Points and 500 VIPorter points when they link their two loyalty accounts.

More VIPorter points on Porter flights

Linked members will also earn additional VIPorter points when flying Porter, on top of the program’s base earning rate of five to seven VIPorter points for every dollar spent, excluding taxes and fees.

Members with an eligible linked BMO payment card will earn one additional VIPorter point for every $1 spent on Porter flights, excluding taxes and fees.

Other linked Blue Rewards members will earn one additional VIPorter point for every $2 spent on Porter flights.

“VIPorter is a distinct and value-focused program,” said Edmond Eldebs, senior vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. “As the preferred airline partner of Blue Rewards, we are giving members more reasons to choose Porter and to enjoy our elevated economy experience more often.”

Bonus Blue Points on redemptions

The partnership also introduces additional incentives for members redeeming Blue Points for eligible Porter flights through Blue Rewards Travel, which is powered by Expedia.

Members will receive 1,000 bonus Blue Points on eligible flights valued at up to $350; 3,750 bonus points on flights valued between $351 and $450; and 7,500 bonus points on eligible bookings valued above $451.

A limited-time promotion is also running through Nov. 30, 2026. Blue Rewards members with an eligible BMO payment card can earn up to an additional 1,500 bonus Blue Points when redeeming points for an eligible Porter flight through Blue Rewards Travel.

The next phase of the partnership will introduce transfers between the two loyalty currencies. In the coming months, linked members will be able to convert Blue Points into VIPorter points at a rate of two Blue Points for one VIPorter point.
