Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has paused its Canada operations for the remainder of the month while two of its Boeing 777 long-range aircraft undergo mandatory technical checks, as first reported by 24NewsHD TV.

The aircraft, which are used on nonstop transatlantic routes, are scheduled for a three-week inspection and parts replacement.

This type of maintenance is required once every 10 years.

PIA said the timing of the work is intended to ensure the aircraft are ready ahead of the expected increase in passenger demand next month.

The airline’s long-range 777s are capable of operating up to 17 hours without refuelling, making them essential for nonstop service between Pakistan and Canada.
