No mechanical issues noted in YHZ crash: TSB

A preliminary investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has found that there were no ‘mechanical deficiencies’ with the Air Canada flight which crash-landed in Halifax this spring.

The report outlines the March 29 incident at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, which resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft after it landed short of the runway in snowy weather. Twenty-five people were injured and taken to hospital. According to the report, the aircraft was also correctly configured for a proper landing at the time and while no mechanical problems were noted, the report cites the weather conditions at the time, which resulted in reduced visibility.

The investigation is ongoing.
