New Switzerland Tourism market manager in Canada

Switzerland Tourism in Canada has announced the appointment of Evelyn Lafone as market manager, which was effective Aug. 18.

Lafone succeeds Mirko Capodanno, who was appointed district manager Western USA based in Los Angeles earlier this year. She is responsible for the entire marketing of Switzerland Tourism in Canada and for travel trade relations in the Midwestern USA.

Lafone worked in various media and trade positions until 2005 when she took over the position as market manager UK & Ireland, then Australia & New Zealand in 2010. 

Switzerland Tourism has been present in the Canadian market since 1973 with an office located in Toronto. There are approximately 100,000 arrivals of Canadian travellers and 230,000 overnights at Swiss hotels per year. 

The latest statistics show a growth of Canadian overnights in Switzerland of almost two per cent for the first half of 2014 (compared with the same period in 2013).
