Montreal Trudeau airport's computers working again after "connectivity issue"
After a day of technical glitches, the computer system at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is up and running again.
The airport, which experienced a slowdown in operations on Tuesday (March 25), posted the good news on social media shortly after 10 p.m. last night.
“The YUL systems serving our passengers are back in operation. We still recommend that travellers validate their departure and arrival information on their airline's website, before coming to YUL. Thank you for your understanding,” the airport wrote on its X platform.
Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) is still encouraging passengers to allow extra time to clear check-in and security ahead of their flights.
The update concluded a turbulent day of computer-related issues that complicated the flying process for travellers.
Flight schedules on YUL’s website were not being updated, while delays were reported at check-in counters, as well as at security checkpoints.
YUL, yesterday, was advising travellers to check-in online before arriving at the airport, and to arrive at least four hours early.
According to airport management, connectivity problems on “several computer systems” were to blame for slowing down operations.
The most notable delays were at Air Canada and Sunwing, an airport spokesperson confirmed with CTV News.
In a press release issued at 10:30 p.m. last night, the airport confirmed that an investigation was underway to determine the cause of “this widespread systems failure.”
It said a failed infrastructure network upgrade, planned in conjunction with Bell Canada is at the root of the outage.
“In the final upgrades overnight on March 25, 2025, there was some unexpected behaviour in the ADM network, which took the connection offline, impacting airport operations throughout the day,” Bell Canada wrote in a statement published on X.
