Martinique celebrates first-ever flight from Toronto to Fort-de-France

The Martinique Tourism Authority has announced a new direct flight between Toronto and Martinique with Air Canada. 

This new route builds upon a successful 14-year run of non-stop flights from Montreal.

An overseas department of France in the Lesser Antilles, Martinique is famous for its colourful flora, lush mountains, tropical forests, and stunning coastline — but what really sets it apart is the distinct mix of Creole and French cultures. 

UNESCO has also added the entire island to its World Network of Biosphere Reserves, which promotes biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. 

“This connection between The Isle of Flowers and the Canadian economic capital reinforces the presence of Martiniquein Canada, which is now our second most important market,” said the island's Tourism Commissioner Bénédicte di Géronimo. “I salute the commitment of our key partners such as Club Med, MSC Cruises and The Martinique Aimé Césaire Airport Company (SAMAC) and all partners in the tourism industry in both Martinique and Ontario. This is one more opportunity for our Canadian visitors to discover, taste and share the famous ‘joie de vivre’ that inspires us every day.”

The non-stop, five-hour flight utilizes Air Canada's 137-seat Airbus A220.
