Luxury re-imagined at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos
From the first moment you step into the lobby of the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, it hits you: That blue, blue view.
Past the lobby steps, the lagoon of smooth round stones, the cozy loungers and fire pits; past a set of curvy pools and swim-up suites, the Sea of Cortez greets guests with a sparkling welcome designed to delight upon arrival.
The first of the all-inclusive Hyatt properties owned by Playa Hotels & Resorts B.V. and managed by Playa Resorts Management, the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, a property for all guests of all ages, was devastated by Hurricane Odile in September 2014, and closed for a year of rebuilding and renovations.
Having recently celebrated its grand opening gala, the resort is welcoming guests and boasting some impressive new developments.
Authenticity, redesigned
Starting with the open-air lobby with the beautifully framed view, the goal of the transformation was to incorporate an element of authenticity, inspired by the destination.
“We tried to build off a combination of San Jose del Cabo," Bruce Wardinski, chairman & CEO, Playa Hotels & Resorts said of the decor and atmosphere. “We don’t want it to be L.A. South. What we want to be is Mexico.”
The intention is clear in the wood, wicker, and veritable desert stone used in the property’s architecture and furniture. Small touches in the artwork, ceramics and even in the embellishments of the dark leather seating in its Mexican Taqueria El Molino bring a level of sincerity to the property; a sense of culture in even ordinary moments.
All-new accommodation
The resort is comprised of 591 oceanfront and ocean view guest rooms, 34 swim-up suites, as well as one- and two-bedroom suites.
Many of the one-bedroom suites include a brand-new sofa bed, in a separate living room, for parents looking to save a little cash during their vacation. Most suites also have two bathrooms, Jacuzzi tubs, and all guests receive a pillow menu, turn-down service, and an evening treat.
Cuisine beyond Cabo
In keeping with their credo of evolving the all-inclusive experience, the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos offers a selection of dining options that go beyond the expected.
Their Asian restaurant, Dozo, combines the standard Teppanyaki favourite with an authentic Japanese sushi bar, as well as Tatami-style seating. The ocean-side steak house, La Hacienda, gives guests the ability to mix and match choice cuts with sides and sauces, while El Cortijo specializes in authentic Spanish tapas.
Each space is designed to accommodate guests without needing reservations, while the positioning of tables and decor creates intimate dining areas for guests. Their coffee shop - an unexpected highlight of the property in its convenient location, atmosphere and tasty offerings - has great espresso, as well as excellent gelato and homemade popsicles.
Tranquil treatments
Treatments at the resort’s Zen Spa range from massages to facials, and guests who book a treatment also have drop-in access to the steam room, sauna, and pool circuit facilities for the duration of the day. Start the morning with a juice, massage and shvitz, grab some lunch, then return for a few hours in the hot tub before dinner for one luxurious day at the spa.
Made for MICE
Perhaps the most significant way in which this Hyatt property does things differently is its group and meetings services.
Minimalistic decor and unique touches throughout the resort allows for creative branding opportunities, and spacious areas both indoors and outdoors gives conferences and business groups a varied experience throughout the duration of their stay, from beachfront cocktail parties to poolside evening meals.
The resort also boasts 35,000 of conference space for daily activities, and a grand theatre for presentations - or a team-building karaoke night.
All in all, the Hyatt Los Cabos manages to take luxury to a new level with its unique furnishings, open-air design and attentive service. Whether guests are enjoying pizza on the beach, enjoying a tasting of some of the resort’s 83 varieties of tequila at its tasting bar, or simply lounging poolside with hours to kill, their time spent at Hyatt is guaranteed to be different - in big ways and small - from anything else they’ve experienced before.
