KLM celebrates T.O. Pride with special flight & dancer Blake McGrath

KLM marked the close of Pride Month in Toronto with the arrival of its special flight ahead of this year’s WorldPride in Amsterdam.

On Sunday (June 28), flight KL 691 landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The flight was operated by crew members from KLM’s LGBTQI+ community and members of Over the Rainbow, KLM’s employee-founded network that supports inclusion, visibility and connection across the company.

A welcome event was held at the airport in the presence of Jean-Eudes de La Bretèche, country manager Canada, Air France and KLM.

“Canada and the Netherlands have both played important roles in the advancement of LGBTQI+ rights, and it was especially meaningful to mark Pride in Toronto while looking ahead to WorldPride in Amsterdam,” said de La Bretèche in a press release. “These events reflected the importance of inclusion, visibility and community — values that matter deeply to our Group.”

On Monday (June 29), the KLM crew visited Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, the oldest queer theatre in North America.

The visit was followed by a dance class inspired by the choreography from Blake McGrath’s 2025 video, continuing KLM’s collaboration with the artist.

Since 2023, KLM has partnered with Toronto Pride, celebrating the city’s vibrant LGBTQI+ community through creative collaborations with local artists.

These initiatives have included animated content featuring the art of Tim Singleton, as well as a 2025 campaign with dancer and choreographer Blake McGrath, created to help “paint the town with joy” during Pride celebrations in Toronto.
