Industry explores Kazakhstan's tourism offerings

The Republic of Kazakhstan was in the travel spotlight recently, with two industry informational seminars highlighting its tourism infrastructure and importance along the Silk Road.

The southern Ontario workshops - held in Ottawa on Nov. 30 and in Mississauga on Dec. 3 - were sponsored by The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ottawa and Air Astana, represented in Canada by APG - Air Promotion Group. This was the first time in North America that Kazakhstan had an exclusive B2B information session focused exclusively toward travel industry members.

The audience, comprised of niche tour operators, FIT organizers and leisure/retail agency chains, were presented with information on Kazakhstan’s culture, recent history, various tourism segments and attractions, in addition to upcoming international events that will take place in Kazakhstan such as Expo 2017.

The Mississauga presentation had additional support from the YYZ Travel Group/Canadian Gateway who specialize in the Silk Route/Kazakhstan region. Agents were also introduced to Air Astana, its fares, onboard features, routes and International Quality awards.
