Hurtigruten launches European-African voyage

Hurtigruten has announced a new voyage that combines the flavours of both Europe and Africa wrapped into one trip.

“Cultural Contrasts: Through the North Atlantic to Africa” takes travellers on a journey that begins along the European coast along Bergen, Norway’s “Gateway to the Fjords,” before sailing to Amsterdam, the English Channel island of Guernsey, Spain’s La Coruna and the ancient city of Cadiz, Portugal’s Porto and its capital, Lisbon, ending in Casablanca, Morocco in north Africa.

GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours, the Canadian representative for Hurtigruten, will be offering the voyage with nine and 11-day journeys beginning September 2016.  

Dozens of special excursions will also be available to give guests a more in-depth experience of each destination city. In Porto, for example, guests can opt to take the “Port Sights & River Cruise” tour, which features tastings of world-renown port wines and visits to the city’s 12th-century Baroque-style cathedral.
