Flair suspending operations in Saskatoon
Flair Airlines is suspending its operations to and from Saskatoon.
The low-cost carrier’s last Saskatoon route, to Toronto, will be Nov. 25 – just ahead of the holiday travel season, CTV News has confirmed.
The airline is suspending flights "on certain underperforming routes in order to focus on bringing higher frequency and lower fares to Canadians,” according to an Oct. 10 announcement.
Saskatoon’s airport has called Flair’s move "unfortunate."
"We continue to actively discuss and pursue the effective return of Flair to Saskatoon," a spokesperson for the airport told CTV News.
"The Toronto (and Vancouver) routes operated by Flair remain well served by other airlines (seasonally and year-round) to ensure connectivity for our community to these important hub destinations."
As previously reported, Flair will also be temporarily suspending several flights to Montreal.
Schedule adjustments
The adjustments aim to bring increased flight frequency on key domestic routes.
As part of its 2025 summer schedule, Flair will expand service on high-demand routes like Vancouver-Toronto, with a 71 per cent weekly increase; Vancouver and Abbotsford-Edmonton, a combined 18 per cent weekly increase; and Calgary-Toronto, a 29 per cent weekly increase.
“By concentrating our resources on routes with the highest demand, we’re able to offer more frequent flights and better service between key cities. This allows us to focus on routes with the greatest demand, providing more affordable flight choices for Canadians. It’s a strategic move that maximizes our fleet’s efficiency, giving passengers more flexibility while reinforcing our commitment to accessible travel,” said Maciej Wilk, interim CEO of Flair, in a news release earlier this month.
